Thank you to everyone in our parish community who has donated or assisted with the fundraising since Christmas last year. We are about a quarter of the way to the target of
$ 20,000 and currently there is a fantastic Mother's Day raffle underway. Over $ 1,000 in voucher prizes are available to win, with tickets as $ 2 each, 6 for $ 10 or $ 18 a book of 10 tickets. Tickets available after Mass, at the schools and Parish Office.

St Patrick's Laidley - Centenary 2019
It is wonderful to see the whole parish joining in the history research, the recipe gathering and the conversations around special memories of St Patrick's Church.

Commemorative green polo shirts are also now available - $ 20 per child, and $ 25 per adult. A 25% discount applies for orders of 3 or more shirts.

The Recipe Book compilation is going well and final editing is underway. Pre-orders will be taken very soon.

Sunday 10th March was a wonderful gathering of past and present parishioners who assisted with lighting the Centenary Candle and experienced the launch of the Centenary Prayer.  Following Mass, many people gathered in the hall to share their stories and photos.

Some comments from the gathering...
" I felt as though the gathering was a wonderful opportunity for sharing and undoubtedly, an opportunity to reminisce for parishioners. I think a lot of people were quite delighted to be able to have the opportunity to not only be a part of one of the many centenary celebrations for this church and its history, but to also help in showcasing it as well. Although it was only a small glimpse of the history of this church in its 100 years, I thought it was particularly fascinating to see the longevity of dedication and devotion that families have to their faith and our little community. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with a number of our parishioners about the early foundations of our church and the individuals who, all those years ago, essentially aided it to be what it is today. I can confidently say, I left the gathering today with a lot more knowledge than I previously had and furthermore feel endeared to our church. It was a very worthwhile morning, indeed."

St Patrick's Day on 17th March was a special Mass and followed by the official commemorative photo and cutting of the Centenary cake.

Sunday 26th May is for those are keen to join in a game of Kanga Cricket - if not, just sit and watch, have a BBQ and enjoy the day.

Archbishop Mark will be visiting the parish at the end of October, and the Centenary Mass will be held on Sunday 27th October, followed by a lunch and historical display.

We are hopeful that past Parish Priest (now Bishop) Michael McCarthy will be able to visit the parish sometime during this centenary year.

Keep an eye out for updates in the weekly newsletter. All members of our parish community are invited to be involved so that we can make this a very special year together.
