Celebrating Funerals in our Parish
A very important aspect in the life of the Catholic Parish and the Christian community is the farewell in death of a loved family member and friend. The community gather and the celebration exists to express our faith and to support those who are grieving. All members of the parish, not only those who regularly attend a Church, are welcome to celebrate the funeral of a loved one in Our Lady of the Valley Parish or have a member of the clergy present at the ceremony.
At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of Baptism and strengthened at the Eucharistic table, the Church intercedes on behalf of the deceased because of its confident belief that death is not the end nor does it break the bonds forged in life.
The Church also ministers to the sorrowing and consoles them in the funeral rites with the comforting word of God.
Christians celebrate the funeral rites to offer worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God for the gift of a life which has now been returned to God, the author of life and the hope of the just living.
